Job Title: Driver's Education Instructor
Position Summary:
Haywood County Schools is seeking a qualified Driver's Education Instructor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in driving instruction, traffic laws, and safety regulations. As a Driver's Education Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching students the principles of safe driving, preparing them for their driver's license exams, and instilling lifelong safe driving habits.
Responsibilities:
- Implement comprehensive driver's education curriculum aligned with state standards and guidelines.
- Conduct classroom instruction on topics such as traffic laws, road signs, defensive driving techniques, and vehicle maintenance.
- Coordinate behind-the-wheel training sessions to provide hands-on driving experience for students.
- Evaluate students' driving skills and provide constructive feedback to help them improve.
- Administer written and practical exams to assess students' knowledge and readiness for obtaining a driver's license.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and assessment results.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and school administrators regarding program updates, student performance, and any concerns related to driver education.
- Stay updated on current driving laws, regulations, and safety standards to ensure compliance and relevance in instruction.
- Collaborate with other educators and staff members to promote a culture of safety and responsible driving among students.
Qualifications:
- Valid North Carolina driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Certification as a Driver Education Instructor from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (or willingness to obtain certification).
- Previous experience in driver's education instruction or related field is highly desirable.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to promoting safe driving practices and fostering a positive learning environment for students.
Compensation:
Based on experience under the North Carolina State pay scale.
