SCHOOL NUTRITION CAFETERIA MANAGER
Position: Cafeteria Manager – (8 hrs. per day, 10 months per year)
Reports To: School Nutrition Director
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Provides direct management to the food production areas, customer services, cash and inventory. This work involves the supervision and evaluation of child nutrition assistants.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide nutritionally adequate meals meeting federal meal patterns.
- Maintain required records, reports, and inventories in compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Establish and maintain good internal fiscal control.
- Provide on-the-job training in equipment use and care, quality food production and state sanitation regulations.
- Schedule use of personnel, evaluate individual performance, recommend disciplining of employees, and conduct staff meetings at school level.
- Requisition foods and supplies as needed, check the cost and quantity of items received and insure proper storage.
- Comply with policies and procedures of Haywood County School Nutrition Services and the Haywood County Board of Education.
- Communicate positively with school staff, students, parents, and visitors as well as School Nutrition employees.
- Assume any responsibility as designated by the School Nutrition Director.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- School Nutrition Experience Required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations in completing required records and reports.
- Ability to promote good public relations by dealing effectively and efficiently with all groups.
- Ability to discuss general nutrition.
- Ability to plan, organize, and give written and verbal instructions.
- Must be computer literate
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed indoors and predominantly in a standing position. Exposure is to frequent noise and heat. Some occasional lifting up to 50 pounds required.
